International Journal of Developmental Biology, 54(8-9), 1287-1294. The authors previously established a defined serum-free culture condition for mouse embryonic stem (mES) cells without feeders. In this study, using this defined condition, a protocol was developed to promote mES cell differentiation into NC cells in an adherent monolayer culture. For differentiation, the cells were inoculated in ESF5 medium. The ESF5 medium is ESF basal medium supplemented with 10 μg/ml insulin, 5 μg/ml transferrin, 10 μM 2-mercaptoethanol, 10 μM 2-ethanolamine, and 20 nM FURUE, M., OKAMOTO, T., HAYASHI, Y., OKOCHI, H., FUJIMOTO, M., MYOISHI, Y., ABE, T., OHNUMA, K., SATO, G.H., ASASHIMA, M. et al.
